There are two areas to bear in mind when deciding on the correct diet during pregnancy: fetal development and the right nutrients for your own body without unwanted increase in weight.
They will include: good quality protein (such as grass-fed meats, eggs from cage free grass-fed chickens), good quality dairy products (raw grass-fed: cheese, cream, milk and butter), well soaked grains and nuts, home-made soups, organic and fresh fruit and veg, good quality fat, lacto-fermented foodstuffs, concentrated fish oil and plenty of water.
These will supply the following vitamins and minerals: B vitamins, calcium, iron, zinc, copper, magnesium, vitamin D, a balanced omega 3 to omega 6 ratio, conjugated linolenic acid, vitamin A, vitamin C and folate.
A well-monitored exercise regime is also essential.
